A photoelectric smoke detector, also known as an optical smoke detector, operates using the principle of light scattering to detect the presence of smoke particles in the air. Compared to conventional detection methods, photoelectric technology provides fast and reliable detection of smoldering fires while significantly reducing nuisance alarms.
PineTree optical smoke detectors are designed with an engineered optical chamber, intelligent signal processing and advanced sensing electronics to ensure dependable fire detection performance across commercial, industrial and residential applications.
Inside the smoke detector is a specially designed optical sensing chamber containing an infrared LED transmitter and a photodiode receiver. Under normal conditions, the infrared light emitted from the LED travels within the chamber without reaching the photodiode sensor directly.
When smoke particles enter the chamber through the air labyrinth, the particles scatter the infrared light in multiple directions. Part of this scattered light reaches the photodiode receiver, which converts the optical signal into electrical signals. The detector electronics continuously analyze these signals and, once the programmed threshold level is exceeded, an alarm condition is generated.
PineTree offers a range of wireless smoke detectors, addressable smoke detectors, fire alarm systems and intelligent fire detection solutions engineered to provide reliable performance and compliance for commercial and industrial applications.
